Moosehead Breweries, Canada’s oldest brewery, is offering a “Presidential Pack” of 1,461 cans of its Canadian Lager to coincide with the ongoing trade war initiated by President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada.
This pack is intended to provide one beer for each day of Trump’s term, retailing for $3,490 CAD ($2,428 USD), and is available in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario. Karen Grigg, the brewery’s director of marketing, stated that the pack represents both Canadian determination and a fun way to cope with political uncertainty.
The brewery’s initiative is part of the broader Canadian response to the tariffs, which also includes retaliatory tariffs from Canada on American goods. Moosehead Breweries’ CEO, Andrew Oland, expressed disappointment over the tariffs, lamenting the strained U.S.-Canada trade relations.
The U.S. spirits industry is concerned about potential retaliatory actions from Canadian officials, noting that these measures could severely impact sales of U.S.-made alcohol in Canada.
